The food pays heed to the children’s preference for being able to see what they eat and for fresh, colour rich and nicely arranged food. As they need next to no processing and are fast and easy to make in the morning, each parent will be able to prepare them in 10 to 15 minutes.
Planning: the products can be purchased in one weekly shop — I recommend that this is done on Sunday and it also helps to have a rough idea of the menus you’ll be preparing each day. The only precooking required is to boil the rice and make the pancake dough. The individual servings can be decided in the morning or the night before.
My suggestions involve very simple recipes, which older pupils can even make or combine themselves. The goal is to engage them in the choice and making of the food and giving them a sense of pride in eating home-made food at school.
Basmati rice sprinkled with black sesame, peas, corn, cherry tomatoes, pancake with spit marmalade, the raw berry of fruits and nuts, apple.
Sandwich with cheese, lettuce, carrots, peppers, cucumbers and alfalfa sprouts, cooked chestnuts, pear.
Baked potatoes with olive oil and thyme, salad, cherry tomatoes, cucumbers, roasted sunflower seeds, wholegrain biscuit biscuits.
Chickpeas, cucumbers, cabbage salad with carrots, cherry tomatoes, stuffed pepper with cheese, dates, walnut, banana, and grapes.
Pasta with basil, sunflower, cherry tomatoes and avocado, orange, mini fruit bar, muesli with yogurt, oatmeal and berries and honey.
