Apart from being one of our most loved and proven superheroes, Krasse came into history as the first Bulgarian who participated and completed the most difficult race in the world - Badwater. The route is 216 km long and is located in Death Valley, United States. The start is at 85 m below sea level, which is the lowest point in North America, and the finish is at 4417 meters in Mount Whitney. And to make the whole ordeal even hotter, the temperature of the air rarely falls below 45 degrees Celsius. Even at 10 at night, temperatures are about 46 degrees Celsius. The temperature of the pavement is 90 degrees at the terrain.
Krasse finished the track in 37 hours and 37 minutes. "It is an honour for me to be part of this legendary race," he said. " The ultramarathon runners...well, we are a special kind of people- we are able to accept the pain as a good friend that we know will visit us."
And how did we support Krasse with his the successful performance? One of the challenges for the marathon runners is to find food that is suitable for consumption at one of the hottest places on earth. Furthermore, Krasse follows strictly a special diet: a large portion of his menu consists of our raw energy bars. Months before the start, he verifies the durability of Roobar in aggressively hot conditions, as well as their properties as a source of energy in extremely burdensome physics challenges. " Yes, it was 50 degrees Celsius, and the bars melted, naturally. But they were still great," Krasse shared with us.
Krasse has been preparing with a special diet and heavy daily training over the past six months before Badwater to be in shape for the marathon. In order to be prepared, he climbs from 2,300 m above sea level to over 4,00 m and so that his body adapts to the high temperatures in the desert he runs in winter clothes.
